Welcome Emily!

We are so excited to welcome our first Americorps member to Farm Discovery. Emily started in early September and has already made such a positive impact for our team.  If you see her around be sure to say hi!

Emily is currently an Americorps Service Member through Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, Watsonville, a program whose purpose is to improve the access to education for communities and individuals in order to help them reach their full potential. Her interest in sustainable food systems began when she started her first garden at age nine with her grandmother, quickly learning the value of food independence. She grew up in Santa Cruz County in the San Lorenzo Valley and is excited to serve the youth of the community she grew up in.

She received her education at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, earning Bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Environmental Sustainability, as well as a minor in Latin American studies. She loves teaching and working with kids, especially outdoors where they can learn hands-on skills and the value of knowing where their food comes from. Emily is passionate about education in food, nutrition, and sustainable farming, and is very excited to be working at Live Earth Farm.
