“We are seventh and eighth graders from Wavecrest Junior High, which is part of Santa Cruz Montessori School in Aptos, California. Every Thursday our class spends the whole day at Live Earth Farm, an organic farm in Watsonville, California. At the farm, we are split into four groups which rotate throughout the year. The groups are Field Studies, Micro Economy, Health and Wellness, and Art.
Health and Wellness prepares lunch for the whole group and learns about cooking, food safety, and other health-related subjects. Micro Economy makes and sells produce and value added farm products such as jams and canned foods. Field Studies does field work such as planting crops and laying irrigation, and also do scientific studies such as water quality sampling. Art produces a blog, makes great videos and work on other projects such as a geodesic dome and nature art.”
