apple ginger shrub lable backsideWatsonville, CA, November 25, 2020 – In a year of many firsts Farm Discovery is offering a limited release gift set of their favorite shrub, syrup and jelly, packed with fresh Live Earth Farm apples. Gift set orders will be taken until December 14th for pick up on the farm or local delivery in Santa Cruz County only by December 18th.

Almost two years ago Farm Discovery began making a selection of products with Terroir in a Jar ranging from Bearss Lime Margarita Mix to Apple Ginger Jelly and Vanilla Meyer Lemon Marmalade. They began marketing the products at their own events and through the Live Earth Farm CSA. When COVID hit the CSA grew and eatlocal.farm got started. Both became stable, direct to consumer outlets for the products while Farm Discovery prepared to partner with Terroir in a Jar and New Leaf Community Markets on a local products project. While the New Leaf project has had a bumpy start thanks to the dynamism of 2020, the Farm Discovery pantry items have steadily flowed to kitchens around the Bay Area.

The products serve many noble purposes, as Jessica Ridgeway of Farm Discovery and Tabitha Stroup of Terroir in a Jar are happy to explain. “They save ugly produce from the waste stream and give it a new life as a high-end, delicious product, bolstering the local food system. They also support Farm Discovery’s nonprofit mission to empower youth and families to regenerate health in food, farming, nature and community. It is a product line that literally walks the walk,” says Jessica.

This holiday season you can give a gift that supports local health, local farms, the environment, our local economy AND is a treat to consume. Give the set as a gift to a foodie you love or keep it for your own holiday celebrations. The pink peppercorn apple jelly is fantastic with soft cheeses like Camembert and both the syrup and shrub make inspiring jumping off points for designing your new favorite cocktail or seltzer drink. The syrup is also fantastic poured over vanilla ice cream for a sense of holiday apple pie à la mode whenever you want. Order your gift set here: https://farmdiscovery.org/shop-to-earn/
