On September 18th, Farm Discovery at Live Earth will host “Time to Shine” the annual benefit dinner at Live Earth Farm supporting Farm Discovery’s empowering programs for kids and families’ health in our foodshed. Chef Jessica Yarr is developing a hearty, plant forward multi course meal. Each unique course will feature fresh, local organic produce and other artisan ingredients. This magical evening includes craft cocktails, wine, beer, live music, and silent and live auctions featuring resorts, hotels, artisans, and businesses from Big Sur to Shelter Cove.

Watsonville, CA, June 1, 20121 – “Time to Shine” will be held at Live Earth Farm on September 18th, 2021, as Farm Discovery’s 12th annual farm dinner, featuring local chefs, farmers, artisans and winemakers celebrating the dazzling abundance of fruit and vegetables grown in the Santa Cruz area. The afternoon will begin with appetizers, craft cocktails, beer, wine, live music and a silent auction.

After the wine pairing dinner prepared by Chef Jessica Yarr, the event will culminate with a short live auction followed by dessert overlooking the Pajaro Valley. Our auction will feature relaxing getaways and adventures you can embark on from Shelter Cove to Tahoe, San Francisco and Big Sur! Have you been meaning to explore boat charters in the Monterey Bay, soak in the history and Foodie Delights of Carmel, venture up the coast for a barn-dance at Pie Ranch, hit up the mountain fun in Tahoe? Our auction offers these delightful trips and you will be supporting Farm Discovery at Live Earth’s on-farm education programs, fresh organic produce distribution to meal programs and food pantries like Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes and field trips for local youth!

In 2020, Farm Discovery stepped up in partnership with the community to deliver 75,000 pounds of gleaned produce from Live Earth Farm to farmworker families, seniors, veterans, foster youth and neighbors experiencing food insecurity and provided on-farm learning support for students and families struggling with distance learning.

In 2021 they are getting back to multi-sensory and hands-on experiences, empowering over 1000 youth to harvest and taste farm fresh foods, while learning organic farming skills, nutrition, ecology, and grade-level science concepts.

Through Farm Discovery’s programs, local youth are engaged and inspired to be informed stewards of their own health, their community and their environment. Farm Discovery at Live Earth aims to raise $60,000 through “Time to Shine” the September 18th fall fundraising event, to support farm visits, transportation costs and garden & kitchen supplies for the over 3000 students who will visit Live Earth Farm during the 2021-22 school year. They have a match on the first $5000 raised by new donors.
