Fall, arguably the best season in California (or maybe anywhere) is just around the corner. With summer programs and stone fruit on their way out, we are looking ahead to all things fall.

For us, the highlights of fall are plentiful. We have the shoulder season magic that is the most abundant time for our harvest crew. It’s the only time of year you can make a dish using spring, summer, and fall ingredients like butternut squash, strawberries, and peppers! Another big highlight of our fall is all the schools coming to the farm for fall field trips and immersions. With the change of seasons we have a lot on our hands here at the farm, and farm immersions are a great way to for students to learn the workings of the farm.

This past week we had Casa De Mir Montessori, a middle school out of Campbell, come to the farm for 3 days! These students were so enthusiastic and helpful, they accomplished a lot! Between harvesting for the CSA, helping with food preservation, and helping turn over rows for new planting, they were a huge help! Thank you so much to Casa de Mir! We are scheduling farm immersions for the Spring now!

Email Lucie (education@farmdiscovery.org) to find out more, we can’t wait to see you on the farm!
