We made Chavelas this Saturday and Sunday at the Live Earth Farmstand during the annual Blackberry, tomato, pepper U-Pick! Chavelas are a beautifully red, seasonal, refreshing drink with a kick to it. Here is our Farm Discovery Chavela recipe (a mix of a few recipes out there) for a spicy and refreshing seasonal brew!
Add 120z of a bright and light pale ale to 3 oz of Chavela Mix (We used Lagunitas Pale Ale and Corralitos’ Blonde)
Chavela Mix (makes 32 oz or ~ 10 drinks)
- 24 oz tomato juice (Dice and cook tomatoes for 15 minutes on low while stirring, strain out seeds & peel)
- 10 teaspoons of worcestershire sauce
- 10 teaspoons of fresh lime juice
- 15-30 splashes of tapatio
Rim your glass with Tajín or homade chile lime salt and garnish with lime wedge or a sprig of cilantro
