For other batches, we replaced the honey with a lavender and basil simple syrups. It’s equal parts water and sugar brought a boil with herbs picked from the Discovery Garden!
Greetings from Farm Camp! π±ππ Our campers have been having an absolute blast learning all about life on the farm and getting their hands dirty in various activities. As part of our culinary adventures, we decided to cool off with a delicious and refreshing treat – homemade 3-ingredient strawberry sorbet! ππ¦
Our campers were super excited about this activity, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to showcase the beauty of fresh, farm-grown strawberries. With just three simple ingredients and a lot of enthusiasm, we embarked on this frozen journey together.
Here’s what we needed: π Freshly picked, juicy strawberries from our farm’s bountiful harvest. π― Sweet honey to add a touch of natural sweetness to our sorbet. π Zesty lemons for a hint of citrusy tang to balance the flavors.
The process was as easy as 1-2-3:
1οΈβ£ Preparation: After washing the strawberries thoroughly, we let the campers remove the stems and cut them into smaller pieces. It was a great opportunity for them to appreciate the fruits of their labor, quite literally!
2οΈβ£ Blending Magic: With the strawberries ready, we added a drizzle of honey and a squeeze of lemon juice to the blender. The campers took turns blending everything together until we had a smooth and vibrant pink mixture. The sweet aroma of strawberries filled the air, making everyone’s mouths water in anticipation.
3οΈβ£ Freezing Extravaganza: Once the sorbet base was ready, we poured it into small individual containers. The campers eagerly placed their creations in the freezer, eagerly awaiting the moment when their sorbet would be frozen and ready to enjoy.
This activity not only provided a fun and delicious experience for our campers but also helped them understand the process of making something from scratch, using fresh ingredients grown right here on the farm. πΏπ
Don’t forget to try making your own fruity sorbet β it’s a fantastic way to bond with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life! Until next time, happy farming and savoring delicious sorbet! πππ¦
