Once you’ve gathered your bounty, it’s time to head home and embark on the heartwarming journey of making applesauce. The process itself, with the comforting aroma of simmering apples, spices, and cinnamon, turns your kitchen into a cozy haven.

Recipe:

  • 5lbs apples
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • Spices (optional, we recommend cinnamon or garam masala)*

Instructions:

  1. Add apples to a nonreactive pot with the apple juice and any spices you choose to add.  Bring the contents to a strong simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, until the apples soften and break apart.  If you’d like your sauce to be smoother, you can blend with an immersion blender.
  2. That was fast! Enjoy your bowl of applesauce.  Applesauce keeps for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
